Just a reminder though - the people blaming feminism are not the slightest bit interested in hearing your defense. They are not trying to engage in debate. They are just trying to weaken your confidence and resolve, and make you waste time defending yourself that you could be spending calling out their BS.
wow. what a strong, clearly expressed article. what you wrote about the health food, jogging, self help days (which i remember) and how maybe this madness was somehow a response to that has really got me thinking. thank you for your fresh perspective and your fine, forthright writing.
"They’re all the same, he said, there’s an alpha man – superior in physique, intellect, finance and breeding – who is reckless and needs to be healed by the love of one good woman."
Clearly he has NEVER read one. I read nearly 100 of Barbara Cartland's romance novels over one summer when I was 12 years old. The heroine wants that dark haired swashbuckling brute, but sees she cannot change him, and that he is cruel, and then finally she falls in love with the kind man who loved her all along.
Yes, I thought it worth writing for the sake of other people who might not have known how to respond to those people. Thank you!
Well said!

Excellent piece. TY.
Thanks so much Lila.
Thank you for reading and commenting (and chewing) April. Feminist commentary is not particularly popular among Canadian women on social media ....
